Nationals

May 26, 2012

The Girls Junior Eight rowed a good race in Camden, New Jersey at Nationals yesterday, but did not make it to Finals today. They were in an event with four heats, 24 boats all together. The top three boats in each Heat went on to Semi-Finals. They raced against Baldwinsville (NY), Bay Shore (NY), Radnor (PA), Upper Arlington (OH) and Burnt Hills (NY). They were in third place for most of the race, but two teams pulled in front of them 100 meters before the finish line. They came in 5th place with a time of 5:48.314, beating out Upper Arlington, the school that Coach Jody used to row for! This is a huge accomplishment for these girls, because they were all NOVICES rowing in a junior Eight category!

Also a big thanks to Alternates Ellie Mejia, Adrianne Kehne and Tori Sowell for helping the team load, rig, launch and keep their focus.

Now we’ll be ready for next year!
